Finally finished planting all my tomatoes and peppers in the straw bale garden. This pic is from last Saturday, I think. It rained on them off and on all weekend so I haven't had to water them (yay). So far, they are looking okay. The straw bales are starting to grown, well, straw! Looks just like green grass sprouting on them. I'll get pics of that soon, too. :)

We are actually trying this in bales on either side of the arbor. We're trying beans, cukes, and a couple squashes - but they aren't doing so well. Maybe starting seeds in the bales (with compost on top) wasn't the greatest idea.

Ours are growing oats too :) And I thought it was seed-free... hrmmm...

I'm glad you posted these pictures, and I'll be watching and reading as you update this summer. Thanks for the link before - it's a fun trial, anyway. :)

Jessi I'll be anxious to hear your progress too. I plan on feeding my plants with some compost/manure tea....are you doing that? I don't know if it's necessary or not..
