a few photos of the straw bale/lasagna garden experiment. Planted tomatoes in the lasagna part, and will be planting in the rest of the straw bales (peppers and tomatoes) early next week.

This looks like my kind of garden. Becauser I am on rocks I have to build up. Currently have my potatoes surrounded by hay bales.
What do you have in the straw bales, themselves? I can't quite make it out.
Great thinking will be watching your garden.

Regina, I just happened to see a link online about the straw bale gardening. I can't even tell you how I found it or why! But hey, I'll try anything once.

Donna, I have planted swiss chard, spinach, various peppers and tomatoes planted in the straw bales.IF you have to build on rocks I'd also recommend looking into lasagna gardening. Either one would be suited for such an area.

I will be continuing to post pics of this experiment, whether it works or fails!! :)
